Answer any four of the following questions:
1. (a) What is creep? Distinguish between primary and secondary creep from the load-elongation curve of textile material.
(b) From the force-elongation curve of two textile fibres A and B, it was observed that the slope of the curves were and for the fibre A and B respectively. Compare the mechanical properties of A and B according to their stress-strain curve.

2. (a) State the difficulties for the measurement of transverse diameter swelling of textile fibre.
(b) Define directly attached water and indirectly attached water. Theoretically the moisture regain of cotton fibre should be 33.33% but practically it was found 8.5%-why?
(c) Cotton and rayon both are cellulosic fibre but why the moisture regain of rayon is higher than cotton fibre.
(d) How can you measure the volume swelling of textile fibre.
