(Answer any three questions)

1. ⁢(a) What are the functions of lap former machine? Write down the characteristics of good lap.

(b) Write the faults of mini laps with causes.

(c) Why combing is necessary for higher count?

2. (a) What is the degree of combing & noil%?

(b) Discuss the basic principle for the combing machine with the figure.

(c) Find out the number of comber m/c to produce 14000 lbs/day when nips/min = 420, Feed/nip= 7mm, lap weight = 1000 grains/yd, no of head = 8, noil% = 15, efficiency = 85%.

3. (a) Define forward feed & backward feed.

(b) Differentiate between blow room lap & comber lap.

(c) What are the parameters influencing the combing operation?
