(Answer any three questions)

1. ⁢(a) Define special fabrics and narrow fabrics. How are special fabrics different from conventional fabrics?

(b) State the features and applications of any four narrow fabrics.

(c) Explain the picking mechanism of a needle loom.

2. (a) What are the yarn properties changes due to braiding?

(b) Draw a diagram of a braiding machine and briefly discuss its working principle.

(c) In a modern braiding machine, circular braid produced shoelace where no. of ends are 40. No. of plies/ends 10, yarn count 30s and braid contraction 45%. If production rate is 10m per minute, then calculate required yarn/day.
