Subject:
Physics-I (Code: PHY 101)
Time: 3.0 Hrs. Full Marks: 72
(Use separate answer script for Part: A and Part: B)

(All parts of a question must be answered consecutively)

Part: A
(Answer any three questions)

1. ⁢(a) State and explain Bernoulli’s theorem.

(b) Write the theory of a venturimeter and derive an expression for the role of flow a liquid through a pipeline.

(c) Water flows through a horizontal pipeline of varying cross-section at the rate of 0.2 m³/s. Calculate the velocity of water at a point where the area of cross-section the pipeline is 0.02 m².

[5+4+3=12]

2. (a) What is poisson’s ratio? Show that, the value of Poisson’s ratio lies between -1 to 0.5.

(b) Derive the relation, Y=2η(1+σ), where the symbols have their usual meanings.

(c) Show that, any types of strain work done per unit volume is equal to .
