Part: A
(Answer any three questions)

1. ⁢(a) What is face loop and back loop? Explain with figure.

(b) What are the knitting elements and which one is principal knitting element? State the functions of different parts of a knit cam system.

(c) What is gauge and what do you mean by 3.5 E?

2. (a) What is double jersey structure? How you will identify rib, interlock and purl fabric?

(b) State the features of single jersey machine.

(c) For a plain circular knitting machine have the following specification: Machine Diameter: 30 inches, Gauge: 24GG, No of Feeder: 96, Machine Speed 30 R.P.M., Efficiency 85%. If you want to produce a fabric with yarn count 28 Ne which has 18 wpcm, 28 cpcm and stitch length 2.5mm. Then calculate the fabric width in cm, fabric length in meter, GSM and fabric production in kg/day.

3. (a) What is double jersey structure and how will you identify rib, interlock and purl fabric?

(b) What are the main features of flat knitting machine? State the function of carriage and cam system of flat knitting machine.

(c) How can you produce tuck stitch on latch and bearded needle?
