Textile Testing and Quality Control-II exam (YME 325) from BUTEX's 2024 Level-3 Term-I finals. Covers crimp interchange significance with GSM numericals, pilling grades, Martindale abrasion versus pilling procedures, and 4-point with 10-point inspection systems.
Level-3 Term-I, Final Exám-2024
Subject: Textile Testing and Quality Control-II (Code: YME 325)
Time: 3.0 Hrs. Full Marks: 72
(Use separate answer script for Part: A and Part: B)
(All parts of a question must be answered consecutively)
Part: A
(Answer any three questions)
1. (a) What are crimp and crimp interchange? State their practical significance.
(b) What is crimp factor? Of a 1 meter × 1 meter fabric sample, if uncrimped length of warp is 1.07 meter and weft is 1.10 meter, what will be the warp and weft crimp factor?
(c) State the necessity of knowing fabric GSM? Calculate the GSM of the cotton fabric having the specification: \frac{60(EPI)\times50(PPI)}{30\times30} \times 56", warp crimp: 8% and weft crimp: 10%.
[5.5+4+8=17.5]
2. (a) State the meaning of different pilling grades.
(b) Compare the testing procedures for the abrasion and pilling tests in the Martindale tester.
(c) Write the influencing factors that determine the abrasion resistance of a fabric.
[5+5+7.5=17.5]
