Level-2 Term-I, Final Exám-2024
Subject:
Fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering (Code: IPE 203)
Time: 3.0 Hrs. Full Marks: 72
(Use separate answer script for Part: A and Part: B)

(All parts of a question must be answered consecutively)

Part: A
(Answer any three questions)

1. ⁢(a) What is a thermodynamics process and a cyclic process?

(b) Show that the first law of thermodynamics is the law of conservation of energy.

(c) A reversible engine is supplied heat from two constant temperature sources at 900K and 600K and rejects constant temperature at 300K. The engine develops work 90KJ/S and rejects heat rate 56 KJ/S.

Find out (i) Supplied heat by sources (ii) Thermal efficiency of the engine.

[2+5+5 = 12]

2. (a) What are the conditions of reversibility? Prove that all reversible engines are equally efficient between the same temperature limits.

(b) Draw P-V and T-S diagram of stirling, Joule’s and otto cycle.

(c) A diesel engine, the compression ratio is 13:1 and the fuel is cut-off at 8% of the stroke. Find standard efficiency of the engine.

[4+4+4 = 12]
