1. ⁢(a) Define the following terms: weft knitting, warp knitting.

   (b) Differentiate between course and wales with figure.

   (c) Mention the features of circular knitting machine.

   (d) Draw and show the different parts of a latch needle.

2. (a) What is needle pitch? Write the types of needle carrier.

   (b) Write the characteristics of the 1 × 1 fabric.

   (c) Show the diagrammatic and symbolic notations of single jersey and purl fabric.

   (d) Draw the looping diagram of 4 × 4 purl fabric.

3. (a) Write the functions of the following v-bed flat knitting machine parts: security spring, cover plate, cam carriage, racking lever.

   (b) Find out the course length (m), courses per day, and length of yarn per day (km) and fabric weight (lbs/day) required for 1000 courses form a single jersey circular knitting machine: machine gauge 24, machine diameter 30, stitch length 2.5 mm and yarn count 28 Ne.
