(Answer any three questions)

1. ⁢(a) What is Data and Information? What are the differences between File system and DBMS?

(b) What is primary key and foreign key? Explain with example.

(c) See the schema of Instructor and teaches relations and make query for the following. Instructor(ID, name, dept_name, salary) Teaches(ID, course_id, sec_id, credit, semester, year) i) Find average salary in each department. ii) Find the number of instructors who have taught at least 10 credits in Fall 2010 semester.

2. (a) What is meant by ERP?

(b) Mention the limitations of ERP?

(c) Write about some leading ERP giants in brief.

3. (a) “Kubelka-Munk theory is the basis for color measurement and computer assisted prediction of color match on textile material.” Explain.

(b) What is computer color matching system? What types of information are obtained from CCMS?

(c) A fabric sample has a reflectance of 0.7 and a scattering coefficient of 0.5. Calculate the absorption coefficient of the textile sample using the Kubelka-Munk equation.

4. (a) What is PLC? Why PLC is necessary for a dyeing machine?

(b) Briefly mention different categories of process control technology used in wet processing industry.

(c) In a textile dyeing industry, following defects are found for a particular batch. Make a pareto analysis graph showing 80/20 area. Also suggest some name of application software for the following analysis.
